We think Christopher Columbus was guilty of crimes against humanity. We say this because he enslaved people, robbed them, and killed most of them. When someone kills, robs, and enslaves people those are all crimes against humanity. We also think that Columbus,Ohio should be changed to something better .
 

We think that we should not be proud of him because he killed indians,raped children, tortured the indians,and beat them.
 

Columbus is guilty of crimes against humanity because he enslaved and killed Native Americans. And within 4 years he killed 1/3 of the Taino tribe which is more than 100,000 people. We should be ashamed of him.
 

We think that Christopher Columbus should be honored because he found the Bahamas which is a great vacation spot. He also created colinization and he proved the world wasn't flat.

But on the other hand he enslaved the Indians and tortured and killed all of them. He was a bad leader and most people think he was a bad person but we think differently because what would we be without a great tan from the Bahamas.

Most of our table thinks that we should not be proud to have our state capital named after columbus. This is because he basicly started slavery in the new world. But we give him credit for finding North Amereica and inventing new ideas and bringing tools, really starting the discovery of America

Most of us have mixied felings about Columbus because he did discover the Americas but it was a mistake. We think that colubus did some good things but he also did some bad but we think because he discovered the americas he did not recieve the full punishment he should have gotten for causing the pain he did to the native american people. like celebrities today he got off easier than a regular person would

We shouldn't be proud to have Colunbus as our state capitol. We know this because he was a robber, a slave-holder, and an imperialist. The first thing he did when he landed in the Bahamas was ask for gold and the last thing he did before he went home was order a few dozen slaves to be brought back in chains for his patrons. He never landed in the Americas and had nothing to do with Ohio. The Bahamas should name their capitol after him but not us!

We the teens of the Chewbacca table, think that we should be proud that Christoher Columbus is named our state capitol. We think this because the people wo killed the native was his people. And he didn't agree with it.( like in the movie he sent the guy home after he chopped off the native's hand). Also if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have the culture we have today.

We agree that Culumbus should be the name of our capital because he discovered our land and he brought natives over to america....

We disagree because columbus's men shouldn't have beat the natives.....but he didn't really beat them, so it's not his fault.
 

Allison, Tommy, Sean, Tyler, and Chelsea say that Christopher Columbus is guilty and that we should be ashamed that our state capital and nations cities are named after Columbus because he beated, tortured, killed and other wrong stuff to the Indians. He also killed or exported one-third of the original Indian population of 300,000! So that's why that he should be guilty!

we all think that colombus came to americia with good intentions but ended up doing bad things. even somone that discovered americia should not be excused for what he did. We think that we sould be ashamed for naming our capitol after him.
 

I think Columbus is a hero somewhat because he found the Americas and cleared the path for other explorers. He was rather mean because he tortured and killed the Indians. We shouuld be partly proud to have Columbus as our state capitol because of his finding of America, and that's about it. I'd say he partly failed, because he was supposed to find Asia.

Guilty.... Columbus did more harm than good. Yes he did find the Americas, but he was supposed to find the indies. Besides, he didnt even know that he discovered unknown lands. But he did do some food. Like He encouraged many men to sail across the sea which led to the actual discovery of the Americas.

He was was guilty of crimes and also a hero in our opinions. We think that we should be proud and not so proud of him as our state capitol. We all think that we should be proud to have our state capitol named after Christopher Columbus.
Although Columbus didn't make it to North America he made it to the Bahamas and inspired other people to sail to North America. If he didn't do that we wouldn't be here.
But yes he did do some cruel things but we owe a lot to Colombus for making the voyage to the Bahamas.
 

We think that we shouldn't be proud of Columbus even though he brought civilation. Columbus enslaved and killed every Native American living here. We think that he came here with good intentions, but he couldn't control his crew.
Nick however does not think that he is a good guy , he killed my Indian bretheren [I am Cheroke] and forced them to mine.

I am a kid in An eithgrade class in a difffewrent school. I am doing a MOck Trial on Christopher columbus. I am defending him with several other people. But the prosecuters have more evidence than we do. Yes i know he was bad but i need help to defend him. i cant find much stuff to defend him with. Please reply. To princebastian@aol.com
 

i find him guilty because he have killed and enslaved people and he might of found the america's but he didnt have to treat the locals in a harmeful way. He didnt have to rape or torture them. Columbus might of helped them but his help wasnt as much as he harmed them and his help was for his own purpose eventaully but not the natives.
 

i think christopher columbus is a very evil person becuase he used the peaceful natives!!!since the tainos didn't know what the sharp knives did he used them to test if their blades were sharp or not by slicing their skin off.he evengot conceited and rode on his back!!
