Renaissance People

We have been looking at what it takes to be a Renaissance person: someone who is ahead of their time. In class we have studied Leonardo Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Albrecht Duerer, Nicolaus Copernicus, and William Shakespeare. What did these people have in common? What made them unique? Who do you think is a MODERN Renaissance Person?

Leonardo's Mystery Machines
Leonardo Da Vinci made sketches of hundreds of different machines and contraptions in his notebooks, but he didn't actually get around to building any of them. Looking at the sketches you made which of these machines do you think would or would not work? Why? Which of these machines do we have today? How are they the same or different?

Would You Recant?
After posting his 95 Thesis on the church door, Martin Luther faced trial at the Diet of Worms and possible excommunication or worse! To avoid being burned as a heretic he was asked to 'RECANT' or take back his beliefs. What would you do? Why? What, if anything, do you believe so strongly in that you wouldn't 'recant' even if it meant death?
