Iraq a Crusade?

The Crusades began almost 1000 years ago.....are we still fighting them today? What are the similarities and differences between the War in Iraq and the Crusades? What reasons were the Crusaders fighting for? And the US troops? What were the results? Be sure to give at least 3 specific examples and take a stand.
Comments:
Yes because they dont want them to come to the U.S. Also there is more people in the U.S. then in Iraq.

Garrett Matt Trevo

yes Because just like the crusaders the Iraqi civilians are attacking the Americans troops.

No, Iraq is not a crusade because the defenition of crusade is a holy war that ended the middle ages. Also because the war of Iraq is not a war of relegion. Iraq fought against their ruler and the crusades fought against other peasants from different relegion.

We believe that Iraq is not a crusade. Because this war has nothing to do with religion. This war is because Bush wanted to finish what his daddy didn't do. The war is not justfied, because we have no right to be over there, there were no weapons of mass destruction, they never attacked us on 9/11. So why are we not focused on Osma Bin Laddin. Also innocent people are being killed. We got Saddam, so why are we still over there. The war is deffinatly not justified.

P.S.
Teddy does not think it is justified for some odd reason...here it is...
*The war is justified because, they attacked us for no reason on 9/11 (no they didn't-another person at the table) Also because George Bush just wants to have a war. (why?) beacuse he wants to finish what Saddam started. Which is right.

Yes we think the war in Iraq is a crusade because we are in Iraq for a reason and so did the crusaders. Also some of the cities in Iraq were destroyed like in the crusades. And the crusaders sometimes killed the people they came to rescue like we do to the Iraqis.

No,Iraq is not a crusade because a cruasde is a war that ended in the middle ages and Iraq is still going on today and the U.S is still fighting , and the Iraqi war hasn't stopped. The war in Iraq is not a crusade because a crusade is a war for a holy reason, and the crusade was not started for recourses

We the people of the skywalker think the war with iraq is a crusade and we think are troops should come home and stop the war on terror and we should sign a peace treaty and be in peace with iraq.

The war in Iraq is not a Crusade because we want to stop them from making weapons of mass destruction. Yes, because we want to find weapons that may cause another terrorost attack.

NO, this iraqi war isnt the cursades. It is not because we were not guided over there by the sake of god. And yes we should have the right to be over there in iraq, just because they came over here and high-jacked our planes, and even flew them into our twin towers.

No, the war in Iraq is not a Crusade. Crusades are holy wars, and the U.S.and Iraq are fighting for freedom. They aren't fighting for God.

I think theat the war in Iraq is not a crusade. I don not think that we are justified in going over to Iraq because we never got permission, we had no proof of weapons of mass destruction, we also killed innocent people. Qe are not over there asking them if they want a coke, we are killing them.

Nora's words: All though I do not thiink that the war in Iraq is a Crusade. I dont think that we are in Iraq for a justified reason, there were no weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq, and that was a big part of george Bush's desision to go to war. Also now tgat we are in Iraw things have yet to improve. There is still no running water and there are suicide bombs daily. Now over 2000 soldiers have died and I see no positives from this war except that we have taken Saddam Huesain out of power.

Katie's words: I don't believe that this is a Crusade because the Crusades were all for religous reasons. This war is to help the Iraqis gain freedom and to find weapons of mass destructions that could hurt our or other countries. I do believe that we are justified to be there because we're trying to help them get a democratic government underway.

We do not think that the war in Iraq is a crusade because it is not a holy war, it is a war of freedom. WE are justified of being there because we found out that Saddam Hussein was being violent to his people and we thought he had weapons of mass destruction.

I thimk the war on Iraq is not a crusade because it is a war of freedom not religion. I think the war is justified because if we didnt attack them there they would attack us here.

No we don't think that the war in Iraq is a crusade because we aren't fighting for religion. We aren't stealing from them either. Another reason it isn't a crusade is because we aren't eating people.

Yes the most imporant reason is the weapons of mass dusrtion and so they don' t use it on use.

heck yes its a crusade
revenge!!!!!!!!!!! @ iraq!!!!!!!!
yes because like fighting for the pope we are fighting for the iraqi citezens!!!!!!!!!!!

no it is not a crusade but yes we are just fighting to be there, why because we bombed them because they bombed us$$$$!!!!!

We the people of Obi Wan think the war in Iraq is like the crusades. Because the crusades were treating the Turks pooly just like the U.S. troops are treating the Iraqi's poorly.

No ,we do not think that Iraq was a crusade because we don't kill inocent people unlike the crusades. They came over here and killed alot of our people for no reason at all.

We do not think the war is like a cruesade cause we didnt wont to fight in the first place.

No, the war in Iraq is not a Crusade because it is a war for Iraqi freedom and to stop terrorism not Religion. We think we were justified in being there, but we think that the U.S. should make sure everything is under control and then hand it over to the Iraqi goverment.

No I do not think that the war on Iraq is a crusade because the crusades fought in holy wars and we were helping the Iraqis but capturing Saddam Hussein and making it a free country. There was no spirtual leader telling them what to do Bush did it because he thought it was right but he ended up being wrong, of course. I think we have the right to be there because since we are the ones who started this whole mess we should finish it and they need us for protection, if we werent there they would fall apart and so we can get some of their oil.

I don't think the war in Iraq is a Crusade. We are partly justified in being there because of 9/11, and because of Saddam Hussein. But unlike the Crusades, this has nothing to do with converting people to Christianity, and people are not being eaten. The Crusades were also taking land, and we are not exactly taking over Iraq.

No, I don't think the war in Iraq is not a cursade because in Iraq theyr fighting for freedom not religon. Yes, we are because they bomed us. We are also there to help them get out of saddam cluches.

no, because it is not a religous war. We ARE justified to be there because they killed 3056 of us.....the innocent peepstals...who are americans. Also we are there to help the iraqis' get control of their country, and live in democrac not under dictatorship. One more reason why we are justified to be there, is to prevent an even greater and more terrifing war to start in our country.
-lexie...the cool person

I don't think that its a crusade because crusades was when peasants went to fight for there freedom and now its mostly soldiers who go. People who are trained.
we are justified to be there because we are trying to get rid of weapons of mass destruction. we are not justified to be there because that is invading other peoples property.

We do not think we are fighting the crusades today. Some similarities are they're both killing middle easterns, and both didn't have that good of a reason to actually go over to the other lands to fight. Some differences are the crusades were fought over religion and the war on Iraq is fought for freedom from Saddam Hussein, and the crusaders were told to fight for their religion by the pope and the war on Iraq wasn't told to be fought by anyone, they just fought for freedom. The Crusades resulted with fuedalism ending, and the war on Iraq has resulted in the US catching Saddam Hussein, and Iraq's government has been turned into a democracy.

The Iraq war is not a crusade. I do think we have a justified mean of being there. Because we are helping them recover. From a war forced apon them(im making this up as I go). We are not justified to steal their oil.
from the Maxinator (aka it)

The war in Iraq is not a crusade and our being there is not justified. We need to promote the Iraqi govenment and if they screw up then we will take back controll and see how they do next time. We made false accusations, bombed their cities, and aren't letting the Iraqi govenment do what they want. Those are my views on the Iraqi war.
