Was King Arthur Real?

We all know about the famous King Arthur, his wizard Merlin, and his Knights of the Round Table. The legends of Arthur have been told and retold countless times since the Middle Ages. But did King Arthur and his kingdom of Camelot actually exist? Was King Arthur a real person? Use at least 3 examples to support your answer.

If King Arthur were alive today would you join his knights? Why or why not?
Comments:
I do think that King Arthur was real because back then, when they wrote they wrtoe about real stuff not fiction things. They did not use their imagination.
I also think he was real because historians reseacged where he was born and they concluded that he was bon in Timttel.
The last reason is because they said he could be a legend but he could also be real.

Garrett Matt Gage

Garrett thinks hes not real because a baby doesnt just wash up on shore. Another reason is that they couldnt find his body. One last reason is because they wrote a story about him.

Matt and Gage thinks hes real because some of his royal walls are still standing to this day and he was born in tintagel. And that he owned the mighity and powerful sword excalabur and ruled the most powerful kingdom camelot.

No, I woulnd'nt join his knights because we don't want to be knights and we are all involved with other things.

I think King Arthur is not real because if a strong guy can't pull out a sword from a stone than a weak little boy couldn't.

I think that King Arthur was real because the round table is still around.

I think that King Arthur was real because people have found pottery and other pocessions from his time.

We believe that King Arthur was real and fake.

A reason why we think he was fake was beacause he was the ideal king, we think this because in the movie it was talking about how he was so perfect, I think he was to real to be true.

A reason that we think that he is real is that people new a lot about him. People think he was a good king that took care of his people, family, and knights.

A reason why we think that he is fake is because of Merlin. We think this because of the magic. Also in the movie because it said that Merlin was a hale saint and half devil. That is another reason why we think that King Arthur is fake.

A reason why we think he was real is because he had the round table. That is evidence that he was a real King

The last reason why we think that he was fake was because a story in the movie....it was a made up story about him. Also it talked about how he lived and what he did that was unrealistic.

The last reason why we think he was fake was because he was the most famous king. He was the most recognizable. So that is why he was real.

Even though we might not agree on if he was real or not. He could have been alive or maybe a legend. We still like to hear about his adventures and his stories even if he is alive or not.

Our table, Vadar, do in fact think that King Arthur is real. We think this because we have three clues telling and showing that he is real. Our first clue is there are records of him leading the Celts againts the Anglo-Saxons. Our second clue is that many books were written about him. Our last and final clue is His grave was found.

The Vadar table thinks it would be cool to be a knight with King Arthur.

i think king arthur was real because the books that are writen about him

We think that king Arthur was real because he led the Kelts to battle against the Anglo- saxons.
He also had many books written about him in his time and still today.
Our last reason we think that he was real because people found him and Gwenavier's bodies.

I think that king Arthur is real because he led a battle between The Celts led by him and The Anglo Saxons. People wrote many books about Arthur over the years; 1st one was made by Groffry of Monmouth. Arthur lived in a castle called Camelot which is belived to be Cadbury Castle.
No because it is dangerous.

We think that king Arthur was real because he led the Kelts to battle against the Anglo- saxons.
He also had many books written about him in his time and still today.
Our last reason we think that he was real because people found him and Gwenavier's bodies.

Shelby Zac and Ryan think that King Arthur is fake because there is no "Lady of the Lake." There is no such sword that can make you invinsible. The monks could have just said that they found his body for publisidy.

Kori thinks that King Arthur is real because the historians know so much about is life and family. The historians found remains of an ancient fort.

If King Arthur came back we wouldn't become one of his knights because we would not be home arund our friends and family. Plus Iwe really wouldn't want to put our lives on the line.

Skywalker 3....

We think that king Arthur was real beause there is a lot of information for his realness.

One thing that proves his he built a rond table for all the knight to sit around and feast together.

And they also found a fort that was believed to be from his time that he lived.

Half of this table would want to be his knight and the other half wouldn't be because we do not want women and the other half wants women and the whole tablt wants the foods and drinks.

Was King Arther real or was he a legend. He was real because monks dont lie and they said they found his remains and a head stone. They found his father and his birth spot.
He was mostly real because they found his remains and a head stone that said here lies the real King Arthur. Cause you cant be dead enless you were alive sometime in life.

If King Arthur was alive today, would you join his knights? Why or why not?

maa-i would not join his knights cause i do not want to be a dame cause it's a lame name.
crystal-i would not want to join because i do not wat to be bossed around by some people that has nothing eals to do but kill people.
Jesse-I wouldn't want to join one f the nights because I woldn't want to be bossed around
ben- I wouldn't join the knights of the round table because I would prefer not to completely devote my life to chivalry and I'm not christian
.0
Aaron- I would join the king Arthur's knights of the round table because I can prove myself to people who think I'm weak, and I love medeival weapons. I follow the code of chivalry even if it is pretty much dead.

Was King Arthur Real?
maa- I think King Arthur was real because all rumors have at least one ounce of truth in them.
Crystal-yes i do belive that king arthur was real =) !
ben- yes i believe that King Arthur was real yet not most of the features in the myths
jesse-I do beleive that king Arthur was real because of the remains of the artifacts and how there were three grave sights of Arthur.
aaron-i think king arthur was real.

I believe that King Arthur was real. I believe that although most of the stories about him are probably not real, he was a real person in which fictionous stories were based on.
His body was supposedly found and then lost, and artifacts were found but none had anything to do with Arthur, yet I still think he was a real person.
If the tale of King Arthur and his knights isn't real then it would have been a whole lot for someone to just make up on their own.

The only person at our table who does not think king arthur was real is cody.

Michael, Tommy, and Tyler do not want to join the round table, because they would like to have their own round table, because, quote from Tyler "We are rebels".

But Jake and Sean would like to bein the round table, because they wnat to be cool like King Arthor.

No, I do not think King Arthur was a real man.
I do not think King Arthur was a real man because yes there was a real battle stating that there was a warrior named Arthur, but then there were no records of him until 700 years later. I find this strange because if he was so great why wouldn't they have written of him. Also Camelot was supposed to be at Cadberry but there are no ruins. Then were there was supposed to be a burieal of Arthur at a monnastary there was no body found.
Those are my three reasons why I don't believe in King Arthur.

we all think king Arthur was not real because...
cause in the battle of the celts against the anglo-saxons supposievly king arthur lead it happend 700 years before any records of king Arthur were written. another reason is the monks said they found the body but they lost it before anyone knew that they found it. Most of the stories that were written were fiction besides the code of chivilary.
In conclusion we believe that King Arthur is not real.We think our reasons are reasonable.

Nora, Kathryn, and Kendall believe that King Arthur isn't real because his body mysteriously dissapeard, there is no clear reason how he died or how he was born, and all of the things that were written about him were written about him long after he died.

Jeremy, however thinks that King Arthur is real because we know so much about his personal life and we've found artifacts from his time period in the place that is thought to be Camalot.

Ther has been much debate wether or not King Arthur was real. After watching the movie Camelot, I think that King Arthur was 100% real.
I think he is real because his birth place was Tintagel and even though there is debate about that, it points to having this be true. Even though there wasn't much mention fo him untill 700 years after his death, I still think he is real.
Another reason I think King Arthur is real is in 1171, two bodies were found with a cross. Those two bodies were supossedly King Arthur and Gwenivere. There was a cross that told somethings about them.
My final reason for believing that Arthur was real is that there was a book writtin about all the kings in England and Arthut took up alot of the book.
Even though there has been alot of debate, I think King Arthur is real.

Zach and Lydia would join King Arthurs knights because the round table made every one equal. Marina, Jamie, and Taylor would not because they do not want to risk their lives in war.

King Arthur was a FAKE!!! Also he was real.. NOT. But anyways his body just disapeared after he got un- buried, they didnt write about his life until he died, and they had phony info on his birth and death.
Also 2/6 of us would join his knight army. The rest of us wouldnt because we could die and seem to not want to risk our lives. But the reasons he could be real are, one is that people lose things all the time. The monks lost his body or could have reburied him and forgot where they buried him. Did people write about George Washington after he died, yes they did, and how do they know that his info on his birthplace and when he died is fake, there is a chance that it is real.

Kathryn, Kendall, and Nora think that we wouldn't join because we don't like war.

Jeremy, however, thinks that he would because he would want to stand up for what he believes.

Cassie,Sam,Charlie,Mallory,and Carly
Chewbacca 6
In our group, we decided that King Arthur wasn't real. We think he was nothing but a ledgend.
We think he was a ledgend because there was no proof of when he died or when he was born. Well not until after he "died" that is.
Also because if the monks "found' the body of king Arthur, how could they lose the body? You don't just lose a body!
so thats why we thiink that "King Arther" was nothing but a ledgend. A great one at that!
Also if he came back to life....
we decided that we wouldn't join him and his Knights. Mostly because we think he wasn't real . . . how could he come back to life?

King Arthur was a myth in our perspective. There was a battle led by a knight named Arthur, but it was 700 years before any record of him. They had many books about him, but many were fiction. Finaly, his body was supposebly found, but somehow they lost the body or maybe they didn't have the body at all.

Cassey - Yes I would be his knight, because I would be able to travel on horse back and see a lot of places, and I wold be famous :)

Sam- Yes I would be his knight, because it would be fun :)

Taylor - Yes I would be his knight, because I would want to be chivalrious. hehe :)

Olivia- Yes I would be his knight, because I would get to be under a very rich and popular king of war :) and that would be cool. RAWR! <3

Dylan thinks that king arthur was a myth. Disregarding Dylan's opinion we ( Tom Asa and Max) think that he was real. He was real because there was historical evidence like records and many books were written about him. He may have been fake ( in Dylan's little big world) because some monks found a grave that here lies king arthur and there was no evidence. We would all be in his court because that would be wickedly sweet and cool to the max. And oh yeah and also academically inspiring.

We believe he was real--maybe just a knight--but his stories got exaggerated and mixed with other people and fairytales. Some of the evidece for this reason is that there are many different stories on "King Arthur." Also their are many stories about how King Arthur was burried in a chuch for the monks. But the truth is that no body was ever unburried.

Three of us wouldn't be allowed to be knights because of gender. Otherwise, we would--so we can prove ourselves. And also have hot guys admire us.

We think that King Arthur was real. We think that because he led the Celts in battle against the Anglo Saxons. He also lived in a castle that people now think is the Cadbury castle. Also monks said to have found his body with a lead cross saying "Here lies King Arthur". We all agree that he was real...how about you?

Nick would join if they had modern weapons and technology.
Danielle wouldn't join because she's a girl.
Aaron wouldn't join because he wouldn't give up his time.
Joop would join because he wants to help people in need.

Most of us decided that King Arthur was not real. Only one of our group think he was real.
We think Arthur is fake because for one they say Arthur led the battle between the Celts and the Anglo-Saxons, but there is no record of a man named Arthur until 700 years later.Second some monks say they found King Arthur's body and a lead cross on top of him, but researchers dug there and found nothing. They also think they found where Camelot stood but there is nothing to show that it was actually there.
We would be one of Arthurs knights if we could.
